Pre-School through 5th Grade Sunday SchoolIn order to provide parents a time for their own spiritual nourishment, and honor the precious Sunday morning time for young families, Union Presbyterian Church recently establishes Pre-K- 5th Grade Sunday School during 10:30am worship. Children begin worship with the whole congregation until the pastor spends A Time with Children. Then they leave the sanctuary to their classes for age appropriate activities. Currently our Preschool class utilizes "Biblezone Live!" This curriculum uses music, crafts and storytelling to teach our young children Bible stories. For our school age children UPC uses "Feasting on the Word," which is coordinated with our Sunday lectionary readings. We believe in multi-intelligence approach, Bible stories are shared with children through a variety of interpretive, interactive, hands-on experiential means.
Music MinistryA variety of musical opportunities including Youth Choir and Orff are offered to enhance the Christian Education experience of our young people. These are described in detail in the Music section of our website.
Sunday Morning Youth Class (for Middle and High School youth) This class held at 9:40am, after music education, reflects Biblically and theologically on contemporary topics of interest to our youth such as Christian ethics, money, peer pressure and the environment. Pastor offers Confirmation classes for youth, 8th through 10th graders, who wish to explore what is involved in joining the church approximately every other year. Interested family please speak with the pastor.
Adult Faith Enrichment (Open to All)
Adult Faith Enrichment classes are taught by volunteers from the congregation, our pastor, and outside experts on a variety of topics relevant to contemporary Christian life. We invite all to join us for this time of discussion and inquiry.
UPC also offers "Coffee and Conversation," a weekly opportunity for parents of school-aged children to gather informally in the church Library for fellowship during the Christian Education hour.
Our Session, Youth Coordinator, and Sunday School Superintendent are responsible for planning, guiding and establishing policy for all educational programs - adult, children and youth - of the church. We seek to support and nurture our every member in their spiritual growth and journey, understanding the pulls and business of our lives.
Weekly Bible Study Wednesday mornings - Women's Association offers this Bible Study hour at 10:30am. It is open for all. Annually, during the fall, the Study focuses on Women's Horizons Bible Study material. Other times the Study focuses on various books of the Bible. It is also a time for fellowship of faith-sharing.
